A lightning-fast flu virus detector
Scientists have built a novel biosensor for the rapid detection of human influenza A virus using a modified poly (3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) conducting polymer. The voltage-sensing detector was almost 100 times more sensitive than conventional tests, and distinguished between human and avian flu strains. The use of this biosensor may provide point-of-care testing and help prevent the outbreak of flu pandemics.See it on Scoop.it, via Viruses and Bioinformatics from Virology.uvic.ca
